It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rick L. Edwards, President of CityScape Consultants, Inc.
As a child, Rick was fascinated by radio. Growing up he would play DJ, conduct radio shows and build kit radios. Rick was an icon in the broadcast engineering industry where he began his career. As a radio network engineer, he worked alongside many talents and could often be seen coordinating radio frequency at NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four, Olympic Games, Super Bowls and National Political conventions. Rick spearheaded many ground breaking projects that became industry standard; most notably the construction of the 1045’ tower, in Miami, Florida that was the first to use a shared master FM antenna.
In 1996, the idea of CityScape Consultants was born out of the need for local government to have equal expertise to the cellular providers when it came to siting towers and to properly represent the FCC’s 1996 Telecommunications Act. Rick wrote the business model along with his long-time partners Anthony Lepore and Kay Miles sitting at his dinner table in Coral Springs, Florida. Rick was passionate about his assistance and dedication to communities across the country in ensuring they had the best professional representation for any wireless concerns. Rick loved his work; he loved his people and was proud of CityScape and its numerous accomplishments. Rick kept CityScape ahead of the curve with technology and through his years of experience, he saw wireless trends well before the wireless industry developed them.
We at CityScape will miss Rick as we continue to honor his Legacy and provide the best representation and advice to local government on wireless siting issues.
